Teachers have a variety of methods to control the pacing of their courses in the Edhesive platform. Here you can find overviews of these methods along with links to more detailed instructions.
One of the simplest ways to control pacing is to unpublish future course items or modules. Unpublished material will not show up in a student's view of the course or in the gradebook.
The default setting for all Edhesive courses is for all content to be published and regulated by Prerequisites and Requirements (more information below). If you would like to unpublish content, you will need to do so manually at either the course item or module level. Please be aware that, once any student has submitted work to an assignment or assessment, that course item can no longer be unpublished.
For more information on publishing and unpublishing content, please see this article.
Adding and Removing Prerequisites
At the module level, Edhesive's courses are paced by settings called 'Prerequisites.' Before a student can access any content in a module with a Prerequisite, they must complete any previous material listed as a Prerequisite for that module. For more information on Prerequisites, please see this article.
The default setting for all Edhesive courses is for all course modules to carry a Prerequisite of the previous module. In other words, Module 2 will carry a Prerequisite of Module 1, and Module 3 will carry a Prerequisite of Module 2.
Removing Prerequisites can allow your students to move ahead more quickly if you would like them to access later content. For more information on removing Prerequisites, please see this article.
Editing and Adjusting Requirements
At the course item level, Edhesive's courses are paced by settings called 'Requirements,' which represent items that the student must complete before the module in its entirety is considered complete. Requirements are fairly flexible, and afford teachers a variety of ways to adjust and control pacing.
The default setting for all Edhesive courses is that students must complete all Requirements in each module consecutively. Teachers can reduce the number of Requirements, change the type of Requirement (eg, from "Submit work" to "View page"), and remove the 'consecutive' restriction as desired. For more information on editing and removing Requirements, please see this article.
